Operational Guidelines with Medicare Advantage Carriers

CB0004-20

February 11, 2020

It’s important that all agents follow CMS regulations and guidelines to maintain compliance with our carrier partners.

Please remember the following points during telephonic conversations with consumers, face-to-face meetings, or marketing/sales and educational events:

  1. Remember to have all certifications for each carrier in your licensed states before presenting a product to a consumer. Some carriers have specific certifications for each type of plan.
  2. While agents are permitted to use generic materials when representing carriers, in order to use branded materials, you must seek approval from the carriers prior to using their brands on any website or social media platforms. You also may not use a carrier name or acronym into your email address. Be sure your materials are accurate and not misleading.
  3. Remember to always promptly submit the enrollment application. Never hold an application, and always be sure you have received the consumer’s approval to submit an application. If a consumer is unsure about submitting the application, hold off on completing an application. Set a follow up appointment before completing the application and obtaining a signature.

For more specific information per carrier, view the specific carrier portals for individual guidelines.

As always, we thank you for your support and cooperation. For questions or comments, please email us at Compliance@NSGACommunications.com or you may call the toll-free number listed below.
