Medicare Advantage and Part D Carriers Ready to Sell Guidelines and Completing the Sale

There are only 23 selling days left for the 2018-2019 Annual Enrollment Period (“AEP”).

Remember, in order to sell for AEP, you must:

  • Complete and pass your annual AHIP training.
  • Save a copy of the AHIP training certificate.
  • Be contracted with Medicare Advantage/Part D carriers.
  • Pass carrier training, as required. Each carrier has different requirements, so make sure you carefully read each carrier’s requirements.
  • Receive a “ready to sell” status prior to marketing the plan.

THE PRESENTATION AND SALE:

  • Complete a Scope of Appointment (“SOA”) form or obtain a voice-recorded SOA number.
  • Follow all CMS/carrier rules for a compliant and comprehensive sales presentation.
  • After completing the application, review all data fields with the new enrollee to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Submit the enrollment application within 24 hours of the signature date to ensure you have met carrier guidelines.
  • On a daily basis, check the status of your applications through the carrier’s agent portal to verify there are no outstanding enrollment requirements.
