2019 Annual Enrollment – Helpful Reminders

The 2019 Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is from October 15 through December 7, 2018. Below is information that may be helpful to you during the upcoming AEP.

Reminders:

  • Be sure you have completed AHIP training and met all of your carrier(s) certification training requirements.
  • You may not discuss 2019 benefits with a beneficiary prior to October 1st.
  • Do not submit 2019 enrollment applications until October 15th.
  • Complete a needs analysis prior to any plan discussion.
  • Have the consumer initial all types of products on the Scope Of Appointment (SOA) form that may be discussed.
  • Remember to ask if anyone else should be present during the appointment (i.e. Legal Representative or Durable POA).
  • Follow all carrier guidelines for a complete and compliant sales presentation, using all CMS-approved marketing material. Do not deviate from the approved presentation.
  • Be sure the consumer has a clear understanding of how the plan works and answer any questions or concerns that may arise.
  • Complete the application in its entirety and review with the client prior to submission. Be sure to leave the consumer with a copy of all presentation materials along with your business card.
  • Be sure to submit the application to the carrier within the carrier’s guidelines, including weekends.
  • Keep thorough documentation of your meeting, including dates, times, who was present, what was discussed, etc.
