Certification and Appointment Reminders

It’s that time of year again! As the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) approaches, it is extremely important to be sure you are ready to sell come October 15th. Here are some reminders for you;

Certifications & Appointments

• Have you completed your AHIP certification, for those carriers which require it?
• Have you transferred your AHIP scores to all respective carriers?
• Have you completed all carrier-specific training for the carriers which you represent?
• Do any carriers you represent require face-to-face training? If so, have you scheduled and completed your training?
• Did you save copies of your certifications? It is important to do so, as technology is not perfect and these may come in handy!
• Did you confirm that your state appointments are accurate with each carrier? Remember, it is a CMS violation to submit business in a state where the carrier has not confirmed you are “Licensed, Appointed and Certified” to sell.

These are all very important; to both you, as the agent, and for your client. Failure to ensure the items listed above have been completed (prior to a sale) and the carrier has record of such may result in a non-commissionable sale for you, and an SEP for your client. Agents must be properly licensed, appointed and certified.
