Changes to the UnitedHealthcare Event Observation Program

UnitedHealthcare® has recently made a significant change to its Event Observation Program (formerly known as the Vendor Secret Shopper Program), effective March 1, 2016. When conducting any formal marketing/sales event that has been assigned to a revealed shopper/evaluator and the revealed shopper/evaluator is the only attendee that is present at the event, agents are NOT required to provide a sales presentation to the shopper/evaluator. This decision was made to help enable agents maximize the use of their time.

Some things that agents need to know.

  • Agents must still remain at the formal marketing/sales event location for a minimum of 30 minutes after the scheduled start time in case any attendees arrive late.
  • The revealed shopper/evaluator will still provide an introduction letter prior to the start time of the event. If, however, it turns out that the revealed shopper/evaluator is the only attendee, the agent will be required to complete the attestation at the bottom of the introduction letter.
  • The agent must provide the revealed shopper/evaluator with a business card or contact information and a copy of each material that the agent would have provided to attendees at the event.
